Addams speaks at the Central YMCA
Description
Addams speaks at a mass meeting at the Central YMCA regarding peace between the United States and Mexico. Resolutions attempting to bring peace between the two countries are passed. The resolutions ask for the suspension of military and naval operations during peace negotiations. Addams is already thoroughly involved in peace advocacy in the years before and the months leading up to the outbreak of the First World War. Less than two months from this meeting, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife are assassinated, throwing Europe into war.
